I probably shouldn’t have fallen asleep on the phone to the steel fabricator. I’m the head of a big commercial and industrial project and it has been absolutely exhausting. Every day, I’ve gotten more and more tired which has led me to make mistakes. Hopefully not costly mistakes, but definitely mistakes.
For example, yesterday I was trying to complete my order for steel products. In the Melbourne area, there is a big need for steel products at the moment for all sorts of projects. Steel just seems to be the material of choice at the moment and as someone in the construction industry, I need to make sure that I have access to the materials that are most in-demand. That’s why it was probably a bad idea to fall asleep mid phone call with the steel fabrication company that I’m dealing with.
If I can’t get the materials needed for this project, it’s going to be delayed for however long it takes to get those materials. With so much demand and very little supply at the moment, it could be a very hard task to get the materials in time. I’m going to need to apologise profusely to the structural steel fabricators servicing Melbourne as soon as possible, otherwise, I could be waiting for months.
I will keep you updated on how my apology goes. I’m hoping they understand just how hard it is to be a project manager and cut me some slack for falling asleep on the phone to them. I hope they honour the plans that we have already made and are still happy to fabricate the steel products that I need for this big project. I mean, it’s going to be a very lucrative project for them as well, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t be happy to talk to me once I give them a call back. I’ll make sure to have a strong coffee beforehand.
