I recently moved into a new rental property for my business and I had to set up all the utilities before I moved my business operations in. I couldn’t have my employees or operations hindered for any moment of time, and so I rushed through this online form and regrettably I selected that the building I was renting didn’t have solar panels, when in fact it does.
I wasn’t expecting the building to be so modern and energy-efficient when I filled out the form, because I had never visited the building before. I probably should have inquired about the solar product solutions that were available on the property before I filled out the form – but hindsight’s a good thing!
Even though I sound like I’m complaining about filling out the form wrong and all the trouble it’s caused me, I’m actually really happy. Having solar power on this building is going to save me so much money down the track, and I’m in the business of making money so it’s awesome. I’m really glad that the landlord decided to explore their options for solar panel funding. With so many solar funding options available in Australia, such as the NSW Energy Saving Scheme and the VEEC scheme, it’s really never been easier to get solar panels installed on commercial properties. That’s why it’s so funny that I didn’t even consider this an option!
Anyway, I need to start finalising these documents to make sure I can reap the benefits of energy-saving schemes. If my landlord has gone to the effort to install solar panels to reduce energy costs and consumption, the least I can do is fill out the form correctly to make the most of it.
I hope this upsizing of my business really positively impacts my bottom line. I know it will be expensive to begin with, but hopefully, it plateaus soon. Time will tell!
