So, my job search isn’t going overly well. I’ve spoken to a few bosses at other companies but none of them want to take me on because they’re scared of what my boss will do if he finds out they’ve poached me. I didn’t realise that it wasn’t just me who was scared of my boss. Apparently, the bullying doesn’t end once you’re a fully qualified tradie. Not even bosses from other companies are immune to the wrath of my boss.
I’m starting to feel more and more hopeless about the whole situation. I’ve explained to other bosses that my boss damaged my under tray toolboxes for my utes and they were shocked. I could tell that they felt really bad for me but it made them even more hesitant to help. They didn’t want to get in the middle of the feud between my boss and me. I tried to tell them that I had nothing to do with the feud but it didn’t do much to help the situation. It really is hopeless.
I just want to work in a place that helps me learn and get some real on the job experience. I want to be able to show my boss my brand new ute trays installed by a Melbourne company and have them feel proud of me, rather than overcome with an aggressive rage. I guess that won’t happen for me any time soon. It’s quite sad.
I wonder if there’s some regulatory body for tradies that I can go to and express my concerns. I just don’t see myself getting over this hurdle without some genuine help. I’m just a young guy, I can’t take on my boss alone.
If anyone has any advice on what I should do, I’m really keen to hear it. I’ll be reading all the comments and thinking about each of them very deeply. I need your help.
